About us and editorial policy

SNOLIO brings the operating status, trail maps and lift records of ski resorts in Japan together in one format. This page covers who runs the site, how we write articles, our corrections and advertising policies, and how to contact us.

Editorial policy

  • Facts carry sources. We prefer primary sources such as the resort’s official website and list every source at the end of each article.
  • Information that changes, such as hours and prices, says when it was true. Every article shows the date its facts were checked.
  • Values estimated by SNOLIO are labelled “estimate” and never shown as fact. Articles that include estimates say so at the top.
  • Articles about a trip nobody actually made are labelled “planned trip”, and their titles end with 【想定プラン】.
  • Every article shows its author and the dates it was published and updated.
  • We may use generative AI for drafts, organising material and translating the interface. Before publishing, a person checks the content against its sources and decides whether to publish.

How we collect data

Corrections policy

  • When we find an error in an article, we fix the text and update its date.
  • Corrections that change the meaning are recorded under “Corrections” at the end of the article, with the date and what changed. Typo fixes that do not change the meaning may not be recorded.
  • How to report an error will be listed under “Contact” below (coming soon).

Advertising policy

  • Some articles may contain advertising (affiliate) links, or be written after an invitation or request from the place covered (PR).
  • Such articles are marked “Ad” or “PR” at the top. Advertising links are also marked for search engines.
  • Advertising does not change how we rate or describe anything.
  • There are no advertising links at the moment.
